All of the pictures were shot at Trinity Preschool in St-Bruno. I had a crazy fun time shooting there. The kids were all afraid/running away from my flash, so it made me get creative in sneaking around. It was a very good experience for me.

Gregory Crewdson

 I like Crewdson's use of fill flash because it makes sense. The fill light lights up what it's supposed to, what's important. In the first image the flash lights up the mans face in a way that makes him look like he's watching t.v.

 In the second image, I like how the flash creates alot of light but at the same time makes the scene look eerie. It also lights the body up nicely and makes it important.
 Crewdson's lighting also works to reveal detail in his photos. By lighting up the kitchen in the first image, it creates depth. It also gives you something to compare the creepiness of the old man to.
 In the second photo, the whole room is lit up. Light is comming from every direction but somehow all light falls on the body in the middle. I like the overall detail in both pictures.

Catchlights

Neil Mota

 I like how Neil Mota can make regular eyes look crazy. The Denis Gagnon photo wouldn't have such great impact if it wasn't for the sharp catchlights in each eye. I like how since the scene is darker, the normal looking catchlights pop right out and make the eyes look piercing.
 Again, in the second photo, I like how crazy catchlights can make the eyes look. I like how the roundness of the eyes play off the angular shape of the catchlights. It just makes the eyes look that much more round and open.

Mouth-watering

Glass Research

I like this one because you can see what the glass is breaking on. Also it's horizonal as opposed to the common vertical glass shots. I think this is done with a setup similar to what we did in studio since you can see the ouline of the glass/broken glass. Also, this was shot with a high speed camera or just at a fast shutter speed.

I like this one because it's darker than other shots and because of the repetition in color. Again, I think this was done with a similar setup of what we did for the black seamless but maybe with a longer strip of light?
