Self (Environmental) Portrait

The event that I was originally going to shoot was cancelled SUPER last minute. So I went home to paint and this is what I ended up with. Don't I look happy?

Magnum Photos

Photos by Trent Parke

I especially like the first photograph because of the sense of isolation. Trent Parke focuses on the boy in the foreground, but to achieve the loneliness, he also focusses on the people walking in the background. Also, the rain and and shadowey setting sets the dark mood. I like how the boy is thought to be looking at the other people from afar as if he is an outsider. Everything in this shot sets a nice, dark tone and I think the photographer did a very nice job of capturing the sad moment.
